What is Leave Year "Entitled at Anniversary Year, Release at Calendar Year"?

HRPro user can defined the Annual Leave Entitlement Leave Year as Entitled at Anniversary Year, Release at Calendar Year

When Employees belong to this Entitlement Class, employees will have the entitlement released at the starting date (e.g. January 1 of each year) and entitled the combined days before and after the anniversary year of that employee.

The employee's first entitlement is on Dec 31 of the employment start date and is prorated based on the Entitlement (days) defined in Annual Leave Entitlement.

[Example]

Common leave year: 2013/01/01 to 2013/12/31

Commencement date of employment: 2013/09/01

Entitlement Year 1: 7 days

Entitlement year 2: 8 days

Pro Rata Annual Leave: 122 / 365 x 7 = 2.34 days (round up to 3 days)

Where 122 is the number of days between 2013/09/01 to 2013/12/31

If NOT In Advance, the employee AL entitlement at 2014/01/01 is 3 days.

If In Advance, the employee AL entitlement on 2013/09/01 is 3 days and on 2014/01/01 is 3 days (last year) + 243 / 365 x 7 days  (before anniversary) + 122 / 365 x 8 days (after anniversary)

Note

Because of Leap years (some years are 365 days per year and some years are 366 days per year), on some years, the entitlement released is not a whole number (Integer) even if the Leave Entitlement defined are whole numbers. It is because the entitlement before the anniversary is multiple by a lower rate (e.g. 10 days / 366) and the entitlement after the anniversary year is multiple by a higher rate. (e.g. 10 days / 365).
