According to EAO2025 ( Revise the “Continuous Contract” Requirement under the Employment Ordinance), an employee who has been employed continuously by the same employer for 4 weeks or more, and who either works at least 17 hours in each of those weeks or accumulates a total of at least 68 working hours over those 4 weeks (the “468” rule), is regarded as being employed under a Continuous Contract of Employment. Hence, a part-time employee who meets these requirements is also treated as employed under a continuous contract. The new requirement takes effect on 18 January 2026.

If the Use Attendance Records for 468 Checking checkbox in [Employee Master, HR Info] is selected, the 468 Checking function will calculate worked hours based on the Attendance Records. Otherwise, 468 checking will use the work hour settings defined in [Global Working Hours] or the [Roster table], minus any leave taken.

Legal definition of “week."
Section 2 of the Employment Ordinance (Cap. 57) defines “week” (for the relevant Parts of the Ordinance) as the period between midnight on Saturday night and midnight on the succeeding Saturday night. This definition applies generally for employment benefits linked to weekly calculations, such as those under the continuous contract framework.
